Internal Medicine Recruiting

Some areas of the country see an increase in the need for recruiting internal medicine doctors when the population increases. For example, hundreds of thousands of people move to Florida every winter to escape the harsh weather in northern states or Canada. The snowbirds in Florida bring their medical needs with them, drastically increasing the need for medical care.

Many hospitals and clinics simply ask their doctors to work more hours. Other medical facilities try to find additional help by recruiting physicians during busy months.

Use Locum Tenens to Find Internal Medicine Recruits

Many hospitals use locum tenens to hire internal medicine physicians for short amount of time. While the physician works at the hospital or clinic, he can be observed to see how well he works with the team and performs his duties. If the physician performs all of his duties well in the internal medicine department, the medical facility can choose to offer a full-time position to the doctor. If the hospital does not want to hire the doctor, nothing is said at the end of the locum tenens contract and the doctor goes on to his next job.

Using locum tenens to find internal medicine recruits also gives the doctor an opportunity to find out how well he likes the work, the staff, the city and other aspects of the locale. The doctor is free to accept or reject an offer by the medical facility without offending anyone involved.  Onyx M.D., has internal medicine recruits ready to fulfill locum tenens positions.
