Employment FAQ
What is the History of Onyx M.D.?As we approach our 5th year of business in the world of Physician Staffing, Onyx M.D. continues to grow and expand our Denver office as well as explore opportunities in other cities. Onyx M.D. was founded in 2004 by our CEO, Robert Moghim, M.D. Dr. Moghim is a licensed, board certified, and practicing Anesthesiologist who dreamed of building a business with the Physician in mind. His goal was simple, allow Physician’s to create their own schedules traveling and contracting their services as they so desired. With this intent, Dr. Moghim created a thriving Locum Tenens Physician Staffing Firm that put not only the Provider and the Client first, but also the employees. His goal for those who worked for this company was to create limitless opportunities in not only earning potential, but more importantly personal and professional growth. An ELITE culture was thus established fostering unique and passionate personalities all thriving for the same goal, success! What EXACTLY do we do here at Onyx M.D.?Onyx M.D. is a Physician Staffing company that works primarily with Locum Tenens. Locum tenens is a Latin term for temporary placement, so basically we work with physicians who travel around the nation doing temporary assignments in hospitals, facilities or clinics that have a need. We primarily work with five different specialty groups which include Primary Care, Surgery, Anesthesia, OBGYN and Emergency Medicine. Our office is comprised of about 50 employees including a full-time in-house Credentialing Department to ensure we are working with only the best of the best Doctors that are fully licensed and up to date in current procedures. Onyx M.D. provides Malpractice Insurance which is handled by our Credentialing Department. Our in-house Travel Concierge is an asset to all our Recruiters as this position handles all travel and temporary living accommodations. A world class Marketing Department helps our Sales Teams generate leads, provides brand management, and generally markets our business. Additionally, our Administrative/Support team is here to assist and provide support to all employees. What is the difference between a Recruiting Consultant and a Client Services Representative?Since we have been in the business for about 5 years, our business model has become more specialized. Our Sales Representatives work as either a Recruiting Consultant, working with the doctors, CRNAs, physician assistants (providers), or a Client Services Representative, working with healthcare facilities like hospitals, clinics, and practice management groups (clients). Of the 30 or so reps that make up our current sales team, about half are Recruiting Consultants (provider side) and half are Client Services Representatives (client side). For those that are familiar with the staffing industry, we basically run a “split desk” system. The Recruiting Consultant and Client Services Representative job functions are nationwide inside sales positions; you can expect to be on the phones the majority of your day. What does a “day in the life” of a Recruiting Consultant or Client Services Representative look like?During the interview process out hiring managers learn about your industry strengths and personality. When an offer is made, the new employee learns exactly where their skills best fit our company. This means that you will first be hired to work with a certain division team, Surgery for example, and then before your first day you learn whether you will be on the client side or the provider side of desk. The initial training is about 7 business days long and is done on-site. The training covers both sides of the house in great detail as well as role play calls, listening to current staff on calls and shadowing our current seasoned professionals. Many of the required skills are interchangeable and applicable to either side of the desk. A day in the life consists of “smiling and dialing,” searching the database, creating new leads, brainstorming with teammates, and of course the inevitable “cold calling.” This is not a term you should fear as Onyx M.D. is well respected in the industry. Many Health Care Professionals are familiar with our ELITE business practice and opportunities. Teamwork is a priority at Onyx M.D. as we depend on each other to make a successful locum tenens or permanent candidate placement. What professional and personal growth opportunities are there at Onyx M.D.?Onyx M.D. is an organically grown company. We promote from within and are constantly seeking to improve our current staff. We offer internal and external continuing education opportunities. We have created Onyx M.D. University where employees can earn a Bachelors, Masters and even a Doctorate degree. Onyx M.D. has recently introduced external continuing education reimbursement program for qualifying employees. Onyx M.D. has established ongoing training that encourages upward mobility within the company. Although the Recruiting Consultant or Client Services Representative job positions are considered entry level, Onyx M.D. has a clearly defined career track that allows one to advance to a senior level position followed by a management position and finally a VP of their own profit center. There are currently openings at all three of these levels, but it all starts with the Recruiting Consultant or Client Services Representative positions. What is Onyx M.D. like in regards to philosophy, mission and goals?“Onyx M.D is committed to delivering elite, professional and memorable medical placement experiences…again and again.” The word “ELITE” is very important to Onyx M.D. as we pride ourselves with a level of performance and customer services that not only goes above and beyond but is truly World Class. ELITE is more than a defined word to our Onyx M.D. family. It serves as our moral compass that is broken down by the acronym; E.L.I.T.E. which stands for Enthusiasm, Loyalty, Integrity, Trust and Ethics. We conduct our business with our clients, physicians and most importantly each other in the highest regard in order to help ourselves and our business grow. What is Onyx M.D. looking for?If you have experience in Locum Tenens/Physician Staffing, Inside Sales, Recruiting and/or Staffing in general and thrive in a sales environment then your skills will align with our prerequisites. In order to be a perfect fit, you must also love a team setting and have an Enthusiastic Personality and embody our ELITE core values. What’s in it for you?
